A Lord of the Rings Story

Rating: PG-13

Disclaimer: SUE ME NOT. ME IN COLLEGE. HAVE NO MONEY.

Author's Note: Trying to finish my earlier fic.

Summary: Okay so discrepancies are built into this as it is an AU. What if Aragorn were captured with Merry and Pippin at the end of Fellowship?

Special thanks to Amy for her help!

I have reposted the first part of "Switched" in my fic journal - Switched here!

This is the Lotr fic where Aragorn and Legolas switch bodies. I never had the inspiration to finish it, until now... so I'm hoping to add a part 2 this week *grins*

B2MEM : Back to Middle Earth Month

Miss the golden days of the Lord of the Rings fandom? Get homesick for Middle-Earth?
Then this is for you!

You don't need to sign up anywhere to participate. But if you see this on your friends-page and like the idea, please post this text to your LJ to spread the word.

How to participate:

1. Pick a day of the week (or more than one) on which you resolve to always post something LotR-related in March, and let your friends-list know.

2. Go back and read your favourite chapters from the book, or watch the movies again. Let the beauty of LotR inspire you. And then, share the love.

3. Start your subject line with (B2MEM) when you post, and use a "b2mem" tag. This'll make it easy to spot your B2MEM-entries.

No matter if you just ramble about your undying love for LotR, picspam us, post wallpapers, icons, or write fan fic / create fan art, the plan is to get as many LotR-related entries on our friends-pages as possible throughout March.

Sounds good? We've been there, let's go back again!

I'll choose Wednesday for my B2MEM entries :)

Frodo paused in his reverie. Today was an important day. It was one year ago that it had all ended… that they’d defeated Sauron, Saruman and all their evil forces. And things were still as confusing as they’d ever been, at least for him.

Sam had settled down for the simple life and it suited him, but Frodo no longer felt a citizen of the Shire.

“Mr. Frodo?” a voice questioned, shaking him completely from his thoughts. “Mr. Frodo?” the voice asked again, concern present.

“I’m alright Sam.”

“You shouldn’t be dwellin’ on events. The ring was destroyed…” Sam always had been able to tell what he was feeling. “We have a surprise for you Mr. Frodo.”

“What is it Sam?” he asked, curious now.

“Come with me.”

Frodo almost declined but Sam was far too excited to refuse him. He followed him to Bilbo’s old house and was surprised when the lights flashed on to reveal his companions.

Aragorn was the first to speak, as befitted the kingly ranger. “My little friend, we are all in your debt and thought perhaps you could use some company on this night.” He paused and smiled slightly. “And we brought presents and food as well.”

“Tis the least we could do,” Legolas added.

“I assure you this was not necessary,” Frodo started.

“Aye laddie, it was.” Gimli was there of course.

Frodo paused another moment, tempted to try and leave and lose himself in his thoughts once again. Instead, he spoke, “There’s food you say?”

Everyone laughed. And instead of spending the night in dark thoughts, he spent the night in fellowship with friends.

A Lord of the Rings Fan Fiction Response to the Letter Challenge by Shirebound as well as a response to a challenge by meldewen04

Rating: PG

Summary: Frodo writes Aragorn a letter

********************************

Aragorn turned as a messenger brought a letter to him. "This just arrived Sir. It's from the Ring-Bearer," he informed Aragorn reverently.

It took all of Aragorn's willpower not to snatch it from the man's hand. "Thank you." He waited until he was alone to break the seal on the letter and read it. He recognized Frodo's handwriting immediately.

My Dearest Friend Aragorn,

Though it has been quite a while since we last spoke, I have not forgotten you or the kindness you have always bestowed upon me. I shall be leaving Middle-Earth soon and will likely be gone by the time you are reading this, but there were a few things I wished you to know before I embarked on this next journey.

From the day I met you I sensed a greatness of purpose and nobility within you. That you have become Middle Earth's greatest king is in no way a surprise to me. Word of your nature and hospitality has even reached the isolated ears of the Shire, which as you know, is saying quite a bit. I wish you all the best but something has weighed heavily on my mind regarding you.

I've sensed that you feel troubled or perhaps the best term is responsible that your famed healing hands could not completely heal my wounds. This is not your fault nor do I wish you to blame yourself. The best have tried, including yourself and Gandalf, and all have failed. I fear that when such evil touches a person, that they are forever tainted. The only control I have is how I react and deal with that. In that respect, you have more than succeeded.

Your great will and strength in the face of impossible odds gave me courage and strength of my own. Knowing that great friendships can exist has been as a balm to my soul, for before I could never have imagined knowing, much less being friends with such people as yourself and the beautiful Lady Arwen.

Dear Sam will have the hardest time understanding why I must leave. The failure of my wounds to be healed, he takes as his own failure. A more faithful friend than he I could not ask for. But he must not blame himself any more than you Aragorn. Please keep in touch with him and soothe his soul as I know you can do.

Please, I beg you, carry your guilt no longer as it is a burden as potentially devastating as the ring.

Estel, namarie mellon-nin,
Frodo Baggins

Aragorn felt a tear slip down his cheek at the touching words from a dear friend.

"What is it my love?" Arwen asked, whispering softly in Elvish and wrapping her arms around her husband from behind.

"He has gone home."

"To the Havens?"

Aragorn nodded. "He saved the world and gave us peace. All I wished for was to give him the same, but I could not. He first wished to relieve me of the guilt I carried for not being able to help him. He gave me peace once more."

"And now he has peace himself," she whispered.

"Yes, at last."

Truth, Justice, Mercy, Love, Hope and Grace
All came to bear in Middle Earth's fate
The sun was sinking, the world was a mess
And Gollum, the ring he wanted as he confessed

They raced to the mountain as fast as they could
But Frodo was weak and could not walk as he should
Sam carried him the rest of the way
This is the truth of what happened that day

And into the fire, and into the flame
They made their way without any shame.
And Gollum finally, the ring did he steal
And fell into the fire letting out one final squeal.

Our heroes were left in the worst of the storm
But the eagles did come, true to their form
And took them away, wafting in the air
And carried them to Gondor, with the greatest of care

Once back in the now safe revered town
And the final battle was dying on down
The hobbits they took a much earned rest
Until for the wedding they did look their best

And all bowed down to the four that day
Never again will we see such destruction did they pray
And return to the Shire the hobbits did go
With Merry and company in tow.

And Frodo wanted to but not remain
Though he'd saved Middle Earth, he still felt great pain
And away to the place of the Havens of Gray
He went to live in peace he may.
aricadavidson: (aragorn -- spooky_world)
The burden was heavy, the journey was long
And it seemed that all that could, seemed to go wrong.
Friendship and love conquers all, so they say
And it definitely did that very black day

But Frodo had Samwise the Brave by his side always
And never once did he leave even when Frodo bade him go away
He made the choice, and accepted the cost
Of all that could, would, and might have been lost.

Sam never left his friend, never did stray
His love and his friendship made it that way
Friends forever, could that be true?
I know that it is, as I have met you.

Friendship

Friendship

The darkness has fallen, the sun has set
Evening has come to Middle Earth
Its fate is hanging in the balance
Will the ring bearer overcome what so many have not?

Will the darkness end? Will justice triumph?
Will the light appear once again to crush the dark?
Or will all the light be sucked out of all the land?
And all fall down under Sauron's evil hand?

True friendship always will succeed
A true friend is there when one is in need
Two small hobbits triumphing over the darkness
That has encompassed the entire of Middle Earth

A shining beacon in the middle of the deathly night
An angel by your side till the end of the world
A warm comforting fire when all else is gone
The other half of your own soul, is a friend

Inspired by Amy

Frodo journeyed to Mordor, the land of the dark
Along with him came Sam, loyal at heart
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, a friendship did spark
Never once did the three of them part

Cold, dark, damp, evil and fear
Was what Frodo and Sam felt as they drew near
To the heart of evil, the bane of the world
And all they had was their friendship which near came unfurled.

All hope was lost and nothing seemed gained
Near at the end, The fight seemed in vain
Sam and Frodo to each other were true.
And at the end, truth and justice came through.
