Trees.
He missed them.
Which was an odd thing to miss of everything on earth. But what they represented was more valuable than he could say… freedom.
All he knew in this cell was the cold alien technology surrounding him, the hard floor, the pain, and of course, his impending death that couldn’t seem to get here fast enough.
He missed that freedom he’d had before, despite the fact that he had viewed himself as trapped by who his father was. But he’d made the choice to live in that shadow. He missed choice, sky, love, friends, work, heck, humanity in general.
He clung to the belief that what he’d done was right and that it would make a difference in the end.
But yeah, he really missed the trees.
