Weiss was never much for hockey games. He sucked at playing the sport and was never very excited about watching it, despite how Vaughn kept trying to convert him. And here he was, hanging out with Sydney, Vaughn, and Nadia. Nadia actually seemed to be enjoying it, but Sydney, like himself, looked bored out of her mind.

“I’m going to get drinks,” Sydney said.

“I’ll help,” Weiss offered, never more glad for anything to get him out of the room.

Vaughn and Nadia both offered noncommittal replies that only indicated that they hadn’t been listening in the first place.

“What is it with hockey?” Weiss grumbled, leaning back against a counter as Sydney pulled a few glasses off the shelf.

“I know,” she sighed, then added pointedly. “Weren’t you going to help me get drinks?”

“Sure,” Weiss replied. “But it may take a while, because I really can’t decide what I want…” He smirked. “I may not be able to decide till the game’s over.”

Sydney laughed. “You know what, suddenly I’m having the same problem.”

“Hi Harry,” Tru answered, picking up the phone on the first ring.

“Tru!” Harrison replied, surprised at the greeting. “You have to stop the whole psychic phone thing. It’s creepy.”

“It’s not my fault you’re predictable,” she replied. “Or that I have caller ID.”

“So it’s not a do over day then?”

“No Harry.”

“Well I was calling because I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out tonight?”

“I can’t Harry, you know I have to work.”

“Yeah yeah yeah, can’t take a day off to spend with your own brother.”

“Davis is counting on me to be there tonight. He doesn’t have anyone else to cover my shift either. And I can’t just leave him alone. Why don’t you stop by the lab tonight?”

Harrison shivered. “Because it’s creepy and I shouldn’t have to?”

“I might can get away to grab dinner,” she offered. “And I’ll buy.”

“Well, as long as you’re buying… alright,” he conceded.

“Are you prepared Colonel Sheppard?” Teyla asked as he entered.

“Oh yeah, I’m going to win this time,” he responded, enjoying the gentle banter that they had back and forth. Since Ronan had arrived and other things had taken place on Atlantis they had started getting out of the habit of the morning work out, but he was glad to get back to it.

“Are you alright Colonel Sheppard?”

That was the question, wasn’t it. And it was a question he didn’t have an answer to, not a good answer. “Yeah I think so. And while we’re off duty, please call me John.”

“Alright, John,” Teyla responded.

Sheppard paused a minute more, then turned to look at her. “You and Ronan are spending a lot of time together.” Way to go John… real subtle.

“My personal relationships are none of your concern,” she replied. “As I assure you, it will not affect my job or the team.”

“Of course not,” he replied. “I just wanted to be sure.”

“We are clear.”

Suddenly he didn’t feel like continuing the workout. “I need to go, but I’ll meet you later,” he said, making as hasty an exit as he could.

Title: I Believe in Loneliness
Author: KaraB

Summary: Munch
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] bardsgrl4evr

Loneliness could be painful at times. Munch knew that. And it was a pain he could handle. Since he’d moved to New York, he’d progressively cut himself off from old friends, and more particularly, old flames. And he wasn’t looking for any new prospects either. He enjoyed the working relationships he had at the precinct, but anything more than that was risking far too much.

He’d been hurt too much to believe in the fairy tale… or rather that it would come true for him. The saddest part was that deep down, if he was honest with himself, he’d have to admit that he did still believe that each person has a soulmate out there somewhere. He was just unlucky enough that he wasn’t going to be finding his. At least not in this lifetime.

But yes, loneliness was a pain he could handle. Losing a loved one again, was not.

“There are dragons here!” Wash exclaimed as he parked the ship and an obviously lizard like creature flew by.

“We got no time to be paying mind to the local wildlife. And they ain’t dragons,” Mal said. “We got a job to do people, let’s go.”

“Flying lizards that breathe fire? I call them dragons.” He sat down the dinosaur he’d been playing with before the “dragon” had flown across the view screen in front of him.

“Like I said, we’ve got a job. Fretting over harmless creatures don’t get it done any faster.”

“Dragons aren’t harmless,” Wash objected.

“Well I think they’re cute.” Kaylee input. “They ain’t big enough to hurt no one. Local folk call em fireflies cause you can mostly see their breath best at night. And they ain’t breathing fire. It’s just a side effect of the planet’s atmosphere. Poor things.”

“No Kaylee, you can’t have one,” Mal replied. “But we just might be in port this evening. Though I’m not inclined to oblige if my crates ain’t loaded on time.”
