That night and the entire next day were a blissful blur for both of them. Eric had to admit that he wasn't looking forward to having to go back in to the CIA. Out here it was simply the two of them... no rules, no regulations, no enemies to mess up their plans... or friends for that matter. And it also occurred to Eric that Nadia had people after her, always would have people after her... He could so easily lose her. And for some strange reason, that didn't seem to matter to him. Every moment they were together was perfect. Could a person fall in love so quickly?
They spent the entire morning in bed, ordering room service for lunch.
"This is like being on vacation..." Nadia said, taking another bite of a small sandwich.
Eric froze. "It's not supposed to be that way. We need to start paying more attention."
Nadia moved to sit in his lap, stroking his cheek. "I think we're paying pretty good attention to each other. Relax Eric, we'll be okay." Picking up a small piece of fruit, she slipped it in his mouth and smiled at him.
After he finished chewing he mock glared at her. "Trying to shut me up with food woman?" He grinned, reaching up to stroke her cheek. "I have to check in with Sydney in a few days."
"When we go back, none of this has to change you know."
"But it will," Eric replied. "It will change everything and everything will change it."
"Maybe it'll be a change for the better then?" she suggested with a small smile.
"Let's hope." Eric kissed her. "We really need to switch hotels... We've been here too long already."
Nadia nodded. "Part of me hates to leave because we found each other here. But I also know we need to." She sighed, running her fingers through his hair again. "Where will we go? We don't have any money left."
"I know a couple of people... They're less... what's the word..." He paused, thinking. "They creatively work within the law..."
"And without no doubt," Nadia supplied wryly.
"No doubt. Anyway, there are a few who owe me favors. They can keep us safe a few days."
"So what now Eric?"
Eric smiled, loving to hear her say his name. "Tell you what. Let me grab a quick shower, and then we can pick up something for dinner."
"I want a shower too dummy!" Nadia poked him playfully.
"I was counting on you joining me, Nadia dear." He smirked.
She shoved him playfully and he stood, holding out a hand to her. She accepted it and he swept her in his arms, carrying her to the bathroom. She felt so good to hold. "You know you're so beautiful..." He said seriously, sitting her down and planting a kiss on her mouth.

An hour later, they were both dressed and laying on the bed relaxing. They lay on their sides, facing each other and propped up on an elbow. Eric's other hand was massaging her side gently as hers sat on his chest.
"You hungry?" he suddenly asked.
"In more ways than one," she countered with a naughty grin.
"I think I've got just enough money left to get us a good dinner... Okay, well if you don't mind peanut butter sandwiches..." he added sheepishly.
"It's fine... It's just food. I think I saw that the hotel serves a free continental breakfast here... so we can eat before we leave."
"Excellent!" Eric said. He kissed her. "I'll be right back okay sweetheart?"
She smiled and nodded. After he stepped out of the room, she lay still for a long minute before moving and grabbing Eric's cell phone. Quickly she turned it on and dialed a number.
"Yeah, hey... it's me... It's the first chance I've had ... Under control... I've got the situation under control." With that, she hung up and lay back on the bed to wait for Eric's return, careful to turn the phone back off after deleting the entry she'd put in the call log.
She got up to reapply her lipstick just as he entered. Eric was carrying a small plastic bag with a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. In his other hand, he had a pink carnation which he handed to her. "For you my dear..."
She smiled and pulled him close for a kiss.
Eric returned the kiss, suddenly feeling lightheaded. He grunted once and felt a wave of fatigue wash over him. Then he collapsed onto the bed.
